Total miles biked today was 64 miles - started out with beautiful sunny sky first thing this morning and around 10:00AM it became overcast but still very comfortable biking.
We left Milaca at 6:50AM this morning and headed west. It is safe to say that we have left the hills and bluffs of the Mississippi River and the St Croix river valley and traded them for the flats of western Minnesota. For the first few miles out of Milaca we came across several mega dairy farms and these soon turned into large poultry operations for Golden Plump Chicken company. There were numerous Golden Plump Chicken farms.
We stopped for lunch in Ramey and had the special for the day which was a Philly Steak sandwich which was extremely tough but tasty to eat. From there we headed to Little Falls. After checking into a Super 8 and John taking a brief nap we biked to the laundromat to wash our clothes. Afterwards we stopped at a Subway to grab a sandwich for supper and a gentleman came out and was talking to us about cross country touring. He and his wife and another gal started out there bike tour in Fargo, ND and are heading to Hayward, WI. This is the first bikers that we have met coming from the west so it was interesting talking with them.
Tomorrow we hope to get on the road by 6:30 as we will probably have another 60 or so mile day and we like to be off the road by 1:00 or 2:00PM at the latest to beat the heat and rest up for the next day.
It has been so wonderful to receive comments on our blog along with emails from our family and friends. We love to hear from everyone and find out what is going on in central Wi. Please keep sending emails and adding your comments. John and I both enjoy hearing from everyone.
