Alexander to Williston - Friday, June 18th - return the car and pick up our bike

We stayed in Alexander last night - approx. 20 miles from Williston. We are still in the oil boom area so finding a hotel that has an opening is very difficult. We got up at 5:30 and listen to the weather forecast and found out that they are predicting rain all day with 50 mph winds so we decided to take the day off. We were anxious to pick up our bike and needed to return the rental car by 9:00. We have decided to stay in Williston today due to the weather. We need to bike close to 80 miles to get to the next town and would prefer not to do that with headwinds of 50 mph. The weather forecast for tomorrow is much better.

Once we had breakfast and dropped the rental car off it took us a bit to get our bike loaded again and then we headed to the library. We spent about 5 hours at the library so I could upload all of our pictures and update the blog. We were able to get a hotel in town and we hope to start off bright and early tomorrow. We only have approx. 20 miles to bike to leave North Dakota and enter Montana. John figures it will take at least 15 to 18 days to get across Montana and we are anxious to get going.

We biked for 26 days in a row and then took 6 days off - June 12th to the 17th and rented a vehicle and did some site seeing in North and South Dakota and then met up with Matt's family. We were back in Williston on Friday, June 18th and had planned on starting to bike again. However, due to the weather we took a rain day and stayed in Williston.

Miss you all!
