Day 23 - Niagara Falls to Niagara on the Lake 6-13-2011 - 38 miles

We actually slept in this morning as we had decided to spend another day in Niagara Falls so we didn't get up until around 7:30 or so.  We are so impressed with this hotel and are happy that we are able to stay here for two days.  The rooms are immaculate and have fluffy comforters and also a delicious breakfast in the morning.  This is a Hampton Inn two miles from the falls and it is only $59.00 plus tax per night so we feel that we got a really good deal on it.  At 9:30 we bicycled to the bike shop and bought a new tire for our trailer and then went to the library to update our blog.  After that we headed out of town to bicycle to Niagara on the Lake which is a beautiful 16 mile bike ride to a touristy little town similar to Door County in Wisconsin.  On our way we had stopped at one of the trails and parked our bike and walked down the ridge to the Niagara River.  It was a beautiful hike (probably not recommended when you are wearing bike shoes though) and quite a climb to get back out.  Overall we had a wonderful day and then after we got back to Niagara Falls we bicycled down to the falls and spent some time there.  This evening we are going to go back to the same place we ate at last night for some refreshments and good food.  We plan on getting to bed early because we will continue our journey to Bar Harbor in the morning.   Hope everyone is doing well!
A group that was very fascinated with our bike and they had numerous pictures taken with the girls on the bike!

We bicycled on a bike trail all along the Niagara River today!

What a great bike path!

Wonderful!

Our hike down to the Niagara River!

We kept moving because there were some mosquitoes but they didn't seem to hungry!

Tram across the river!

Climb up was a steep and slow process!

Here a helicopter was filming the boat ride on the Niagara River!

This is the bridge that we will bicycle across tomorrow to get back into the U.S.

Same bridge that we will bicycle across tomorrow morning.  I loved the Canadian and US Flag on the bridge!

We passed numerous orchards and vineyards as we bicycled to and from Niagara on the Lake

A view through the woods of Lake Ontario!

John waiting for me to get back on the bike so we can go-go-go!
